About This Company
Novatek is Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer, engaged in the exploration, processing, and sale of natural gas. The company’s key assets are located in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a region that accounts for 80% of Russia’s natural gas production and 15% of the world’s natural gas reserves. Novatek sells gas not only on the domestic market but also exports it as liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company owns Yamal LNG, Russia’s largest LNG plant, with an annual production capacity of 19.6 million tons of gas. Arctic LNG 2 is the company’s second flagship project, with total capital expenditures of $21.3 billion. Construction of several new plants is also planned.
